The faculty in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology provide tertiary and specialty care programs that serve the Central West and Central South regions of Ontario. We are committed to providing excellent educational programs, leading edge basic science and health-care research and the highest quality in patient care. The department is active in important clinical and basic science research efforts, with active grant support and numerous scientific publications each year successfully competing for and receiving CIHR Investigator and other major awards.
The Department faculty members boast exceptional expertise in various areas of obstetrics and gynecology and have an excellent reputation for supporting learners. Some obstetricians practice in major academic centers and many in small to medium size communities. They treat a wide variety of menstrual disorders, infections, pelvic pathology (fibroids, ovarian cysts, menorrhagia, prolapse, urinary dysfunction, cervical cancer), pregnancies complicated with hypertension, bleeding growth disorders, multiple pregnancies, and women enjoying healthy, normal pregnancies. Our learners are exposed to a variety of learning opportunities throughout their education.
We are proud of the true partnership between the community and the University. Adjunct appointments are granted to faculty members in the surrounding communities to recognize their academic contributions within the Faculty of Health Sciences.
