Trainee Opportunities

American Urological Association Residency Research Award

by Nicole Gervais | Apr 05, 2018

Conducting urologic research is an exciting and vital activity for medical professionals. Research training during urology residency provides residents with exposure to this potential career path and experience to enable them to continue their development towards becoming independent investigators. Importantly, residency research training has the potential to address the critical and increasing shortfall of urology surgeon-scientists and to play a key role in departmental and institutional contributions to science and to improving patients’ lives through research. The Urology Care Foundation is proud to provide the Residency Research Award program. This program, initiated in 2010 and having funded ten awards thus far, is made possible through the support of the Urology
Care Foundation, the Russell Scott, Jr., MD Urology Research Fund, and other sponsors. These awards are designed to support outstanding urology residents for a period of six months or one year while the resident fulfills his or her obligation for research training.

Funding Details: These awards provide up to $40,000 per year to conduct either six months or one year of research under the direction of an accomplished mentor. Sponsoring institutions provide matching funds and ensure that the awardee receives adequate research support.

Competition generally opens in the fall with a deadline in January. Click here for more information.
